In early January, I said to my husband Ken – we have to do something. We both knew it. Like many others who struggle with their weight, it was not our first time saying it either. I was feeling horrible and dealing with bad stomach issues for months, and he was struggling with health issues from diabetes. Dr. O mentioned to me that he and Jane were starting-up another session for their Metabolic Healing & Weight Loss Seminar, and Ken and I figured we would go listen to hear what it was about. We were ready to change our lives for good. We have been actively working toward better health throughout the past three years and were eagerly searching for a lifeline. We both went in open-minded and ready for change. Ken wanted to find something he could stick to forever and I just wanted to feel good. I had been on a low to no-carb diet for the past three years, which helped me lose weight and keep it off but I still suffered insomnia, felt lethargic, moody and just off. My stomach was horrible, and at that point I had started to eat rice for breakfast to help absorb the acid. We both needed a change – for our health and for each other.
The weekly seminars and teachings taught us healthy whole foods to eat, when to eat, the benefits of fasting and the science behind all of it. From the minute we started it, we loved learning about the keto- based, high-fat diet and eating it was even better! It took some time to get our minds out of our own way and realize eating a healthy avocado, cheese or grass-fed butter is not going to give us a heart attack.
