Since college, I have struggled with my weight. I’ve been up and down 15-20 lbs over the years till Jan 2019, I reached my highest weight ever and was about 50 lbs heavier than when I started college. At the same time, I suffered from depression for many years and had a difficult time coping with my emotional stress. In Jan 2019, after doing bloodwork, I was pre-diabetic, my inflammation markers were very high, my blood pressure was around 190/110, my triglycerides were up, I had terrible planar fasciitis, carpel tunnel syndrome and lower back pain. I had daily headaches and felt like I needed to nap every afternoon. So, when Andrew said he wanted to try a low carb, healthy fat diet I said I was in. Previous to this, we followed what we thought was a healthy lifestyle. Lots of fruits and vegetables, “healthy” carbs, less red meat, low fat, etc. Over the course of 10 months, I lost almost 40 lbs. I have now maintained that loss since Dec 2019 and am still working on losing a little more. But more importantly, my insulin is down, my inflammation is down so my planar fasciitis, carpel tunnel and back pain are practically gone. I am no longer pre-diabetic. All my bloodwork looks good. One of the greatest benefits is my depression is gone and my ability to handle my emotional stress has increased tremendously. I believe it is due to my increased mental clarity and ability to work through different stresses that come at me. I am so thankful for this way of life and I am passionate about helping others come to a place of healing and overall well being. It’s not about weight loss. It’s about healing. The weight loss is just a by-product of healing metabolically.
