What is a metabolic disorder?
Metabolic disorders are disease states that occur in someone because of the imbalance of chemicals, hormones, and biochemical reactions that occur in the body. While some of them can be genetic, the vast majority of these are caused by an imbalance of foods that we eat. Metabolic diseases include obesity, metabolic syndrome, pre-diabetes, diabetes, hypertension and even mixed hyperlipidemia. Syndromes such as Non-Alcoholic SteatoHepatitis (NASH), otherwise nicknamed Fatty Liver, are also metabolic disorders that can easily be reversed just by diet and lifestyle. Some have even made the point that cancers may have a metabolic origin. At the root of most chronic diseases is a metabolic disorder.
